Jonathan Schwartzman has nearly twenty years of commercial and real estate transaction and litigation experience. He has successfully handled every stage of the litigation process from initial strategizing on how best to protect a client’s rights to litigating trials to verdict to prosecuting and defending appeals. A business advisor as well as a litigator, Jon approaches each case understanding that drawn out disputes are never in a company’s business plan. He manages each case to advance a client’s business goals, and to prevent the process from becoming overwhelming. This approach has anchored Jon’s experience in every case he handles, whether contract disputes, corporate dissolutions, shareholder disputes, business torts, real property litigation, collection actions, and RICO claims. As a result, Jon’s relationships with clients last long after a particular case ends and he is a trusted day-to-day advisor to client executives in their business affairs. He regularly guides clients by reviewing contracts, helping them close deals, anticipating challenges, dealing with insurance and employment matters, as well as helping companies take proactive steps to minimize the risks of later problems. Jon also has significant experience in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, including purchases, sales and refinances of commercial real estate, single and multi-family residences, condominiums and co-ops, as well as commercial lease transactions, representing both landlords and tenants. He serves as ‘of counsel’ to the firm.
