On May 1, John LoTurco was honored by the Suffolk County Bar Association with the Helping Hands Award for his role as the Huntington High School Mock Trial coach and legal advisor for eight years.
Since his son founded the team in 2015, the team has had an over 90% win record, has won three Suffolk County Championships, placed 2nd in NYS in 2022, and 3rd in NYS in 2018.
The team is headed for the NYS Championship on May 21-23 to be held in Albany. In June 2022, Huntington High School honored John's service by naming the Huntington High School Mock Trial trophy “The LoTurco Mock Trial Trophy” which is displayed in the Huntington High School trophy display cabinet.
John is an alumnus of Huntington High School, Class of 1984, and his mock trial co-advisor, Xavier Palacios, is also a Huntington High School alumnus, Class of 1990.
